October 18, 2023 – IICF (Insurance Industry Charity Foundation) Volunteers at the Firestorm Memorial Garden!

We closed out the Firestorm Memorial Garden season on October 18 with the help of the IICF Insurance group’s ‘Week of Giving’ program. The local insurance representatives helped to apply a final layer of mulch to the north half of the garden (The Berkeley Project and Bentley School helped do the south side a few weeks earlier). This was the 2nd season that IIFC volunteered in the garden, and several members of this year’s IICF helpers came out last year as well. The small but mighty group of 6 tore through the mulch pile in record time.

The winter mulch will help with weed control, moisture retention and help add needed nutrients to the soil. This was also the second year that Big Chief Tree Services has donated several trucks of mulch to help us maintain our gardens. This event closes out the disciplined two-year garden transformation effort. Thank you IICF for your support of our community garden efforts, and Big Chief Tree Service for your generosity.

The Firestorm Memorial Garden looks incredible! Please stop by and see for yourself.
