NHCA Annual Meeting

March 22, 2026 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

You are invited to join your neighbors for the annual meeting of the North Hills
Community Association Sunday, March 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Highlands Country
Club, 110 Hiller Drive.

  • The non-profit NHCA was formed by volunteers after the 1991 firestorm to
represent concerns of the North Oakland Hills as we rebuilt our homes,
    infrastructure and community.

In November, Oakland voters will be asked to consider reform of the city charter,
weighing in on the way the city is governed. Two speakers have been invited. Both are
experienced and deeply informed about city governance, will assess the measure and
engage in discussion with attendees.

  • Former Oakland Mayor Libby Schaff (2015-2023)
  • Former Lafayette City Manager and twice acting Oakland City Administrator
    Steve Falk

NHCA will also elect a new board of directors and is actively seeking neighbors
interested in engaging in our projects and expanding community participation. Many of
the organization’s original leaders and members are eager to welcome newer neighbors
with fresh perspectives and ideas. If you are interested in serving, please send email
to: chair@northhillscommunity.org.

The board oversees our community gardens, hosts regular public safety meetings with
police and fire officials and serves as the community’s voice to governmental agencies
and jurisdictions.

  • NHCA is most visibly engaged in maintenance of our two community gardens,
Firesafe Memorial Garden adjacent to Bentley School at the foot of Hiller Drive,
dedicated to firefighters, police officers and residents who perished in the 1991
fire and the Gateway Emergency Preparedness Exhibit at the intersection of
Tunnel Road and Hiller Drive above Highway 24, designed to inform neighbors
about emergency preparedness, fire prevention and firesafe landscaping.

We look forward to seeing you at this festive annual event!
